A biogas production and waste management facility was struggling to meet environmental discharge standards due to excessive suspended solids overloading its treatment system (clarifier). Limited available space required a fast, compliant solution that would keep operations running.

The Challenge

A high Total Suspended Solids (TSS) load, with concentrations of 4 to 6 grams per liter (g/L) in the wastewater, compromised the facility's biological treatment process. This level was well above the discharge compliance limit.

The site required a high-volume treatment capacity of 65–85 gpm while operating within a severely constrained footprint. Any solution had to be reliable, fast to deploy, and fully operational without halting production.

The Solution

Following a detailed site assessment, CTP deployed a Vertical AEROMOBIL DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) unit, which uses air bubbles to separate and remove suspended particles from the water. This configuration is specifically designed for high-performance clarification in a limited space.

Unlike standard horizontal units, the vertical design achieves the same treatment capacity in a significantly smaller plot: a 20-ft container plus approximately 30 sq ft of additional space.

The deployment included a fully integrated utility unit for air production, chemical preparation, and injection, along with 24/7 remote monitoring. The system was directly connected to the client's Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) infrastructure. This enabled seamless automated control. Installation and commissioning were completed in less than five days with no operational disruptions.

The Results

The AEROMOBIL® Vertical unit delivered immediate and measurable results for 18 months:

  • TSS was reduced to 35 ppm, meeting discharge standards.

  • Immediate performance improvement of the biological treatment system

  • Rapid deployment with no operational disruptions

The project was delivered on time with no safety incidents. The client now benefits from a reliable, continuously monitored treatment solution suited to their long-term operational needs.
